Thank you to everyone who came out to support our magazine launch of ‘Jazz Revelations: Issue 1 - Leeds’ at Wharf Chambers on 3 May 2023! We’ve been overwhelmed by the support of the music community in Leeds and hearing the feedback on the magazine.

It’s such a pleasure to be surrounded by amazing musicians, friends, and music lovers in Leeds, we’re very grateful for the amount of love that’s been shared for the magazine and it’s been great connecting with new people from the scene too

A huge thanks goes to the artists who performed at the magazine launch - the Olivia Cuttill Quartet, Jake Mehew and Phenicia were all mesmerising and our good friend, photographer Hamish Irvine, managed to capture these stunning pictures of the evening from their sets.

We will be donating £120 to MAP Charity from proceeds from the magazine launch too. Once again, thank you so much for you support - it really means a lot!

About the magazine

We are beyond excited to launch the magazine project we have been working on and take our first steps to becoming a printed publication. Our first magazine 'Jazz Revelations: Issue 1 - Leeds' focuses on the Leeds jazz scene.

After spending the last four years producing online content about the wider jazz scene, we decided to create a physical magazine about a scene very close to our hearts, Leeds.

Leeds does not always get the credit it deserves for how amazing its music community is and is often underrepresented in the music media.

With our team having a strong base in Leeds, we wanted to create a magazine that shares the amazing music of the city that has brought us so much joy during our time living here.

The magazine will present a coordinated voice on the scene and celebrate the artists who recently have been making waves and proving Leeds is home to one of the best contemporary jazz scenes right now.

The magazine features artists in Leeds producing jazz, R&B, neo-soul, hip hop and electronica music, including:

In the magazine, you can find in-depth interviews and crate digging with artists, release roundups, an extended feature of our radio piece 'On Rotation', looking ahead to the future talent in the city, a little history on the city's scene, plus a mix to accompany your reading.

The magazine is audio-described as well for those with different accessibility needs.

A big thanks goes to Emma Jones (@emmajonesillustration) for her design work in the magazine, and to Hugh Roberts (@misc.etc_) for the cover design on the magazine and the gig poster.

Thanks to Yasmina Nahas for her contribution to the magazine, and Ally J Steel for his support throughout the project.

And a special thanks to Ben Lee, editor-in-chief of the magazine, for producing the whole project.

Please consider making a donation to The Runnymede Trust and/or the Race Equality Foundation to help further equality within the UK.
